The Italian Grand Prix will be an important meeting for the regional of the stage, Celestino Vietti. In addition to competing in the first of the two meetings scheduled in his country in 2024, Red Bull KTM rider Ajo is preparing to take part in the hundredth Grand Prix of his career. After leaving Barcelona with bitter memories, Vietti expects to bounce back during this meeting with double stakes.
The conclusion of Celestino Vietti's weekend in Catalonia certainly does not reflect the progress made by the driver during each of the sessions that comprised it. After collarbone surgery, the Italian returned to the paddock with the aim of getting back in the saddle, but he exceeded expectations.
Managing to qualify on the front row despite having been given the chore of having to go through Q1, the No. 13 had every chance of ending on a positive note. However, an unfortunate fall awaited him in the race, ending his hopes of a top-5 finish prematurely.
At Mugello things will be completely different, since the latter will show up there with the motivation that comes from competing in his home Grand Prix, which will also be the hundredth of his career in the world championship.
“I'm really excited about the weekend coming up in Italy, assures Celestino Vietti. It's always special for a rider to ride at home, because there are a lot of people who come to see us, both from Italy but also from all over Europe. The fact of knowing that I will be making my 100th start in the championship adds something to the meeting. I really like the track and the noise there. We hope to have a good race and we will try to enjoy it and get the best possible result. »
The previous Italian Grands Prix were rather favorable to his team, since it won there during the 2022 and 2023 editions, driven by the exploits of Pedro Acosta. In 2021, the result was even more pleasing, since Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez gave the team a double.
