The game of musical chairs caused by the early departure of Jorge Lorenzo seems about to end.

As is known, the Mallorca pilot was replaced by Alex Marquez within the Repsol Honda team, which thus left a vacant place in Moto2 in the Marc VDS team.

This having been filled by the arrival ofAugusto Fernández who was initially to ride in the Sito Pons team, the latter proposed to Hector Garzo, until then a Tech3 rider in MotoE, to participate for 143 laps in the private test organized Monday and Tuesday on a Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia benefiting from clear skies and temperatures around 17°.

And it was a great idea since, according to our information and although not very used to the Kalex, the local driver who knows the track by heart turned out to be the fastest there!

As a result, the 21-year-old rider should join the team of the double 250cc world champion from 1988 and 1989 next year. We are talking about a two-year contract alongside Lorenzo Baldassarri...which should be made official in the coming days.

The latest press release from the Spanish team is particularly laudatory: “For Garzó, it was the first time that he drove our team's Kalex and the results obtained exceeded all expectations that could be placed on him. He did a very good job, very consistent in his times and knowing how to transmit the sensations he felt on the bike to the technical team at all times. He showed great speed and was one of the fastest drivers in both days of testing. Without a doubt, a very positive test for both the rider and the team. »

Héctor Garzo: “I am very happy with how the test went. Everything went well, both with the team and with the bike. I coped with it in the best way possible, focusing on a job well done and I am satisfied. I would like to thank Sito for giving me this opportunity to work with his team. »
