The Spanish driver's intervention went well and he will now take advantage of the winter break to resolve certain problems that are bothering him in his left knee.
The winter break has arrived, and with it the time for “repair” for World Championship drivers. After Ai Ogura and Marc Márquez, it's this time Jorge Martín who had to undergo an intervention. The latter has barely concluded his first season in Moto2 and already underwent surgery on Wednesday afternoon at the Dexeus–Quirón University Hospital in Barcelona to resolve some problems he has accumulated in his left knee. The intervention was carried out by Doctor Monllau and his team from the Catalan Institute of Traumatology and Sports Medicine.
Martín will now be able to take the time to rest before beginning his rehabilitation and his preparation for 2020 after a complicated 2019 season, notably due to the problems encountered by KTM. However, he ended his season on an upward trajectory, going from just three points scored in the first eight races to consistent top 10 finishes from the Sachsenring onwards to his first two podiums in Japan and Australia. He ultimately finished in third place in the rookie rankings, behind Fabio Di Giannantonio and Enea Bastianini.
