Who will have the Suter MXX2 of the Kiefer team abandoned by Danny Kent but which brings happiness Dominique Aegerter ? As the French Grand Prix approaches its first test sessions which will be launched on May 19, the German boss who rides on a Swiss chassis is looking for the rare bird. He has free choice provided that it does not concern a Spaniard. Dorna no longer wants him on the Moto2 starting grid. So who ? A Scotsman with a familiar name points his nose.

According to speedweek, Stefan Kiefer had drawn up a list with Cardus et Simon, but there are already too many Spaniards on the Moto2 starting grid. So he embellished it with Anthony West and even Markus Reiterberger, but they weren't really serious opportunities. And then there was the light: a 21-year-old pilot, British like the one who left. A young person of good nationality but also of good family: Tarran Mackenzie.

Having competed in the Red Bull Cup, he is known for the Grands Prix and he seems to have good momentum since he is the reigning Champion in Supersport across the Channel, a category which he dominates again this year with a Yamaha. All that remains for Kiefer is to negotiate the departure of Tarran with his current team which is the McAMS Yamaha team.

The Scot is expected for Le Mans but also hoped for the rest of the season in Moto2. Tarran is Niall's son. It will be recalled that the latter competed in Grand Prix in 250cc and 500cc on Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki. He was on the podium seven times between 1987 and 1993, including three third places. His best place in the championship was fourth in 1990. On seven occasions, he was in the top 10 overall in the premier class.
