The German team led by Jochen Kiefer is ready to face the new season with a KTM entrusted to Dominique Aegerter.

The Swiss Moto motorcycle show in Zurich was an opportunity for Kiefer Racing to present itself before the 2018 season: after the numerous problems (especially economic) which began with the untimely death of owner Stefan Kiefer, the team is passed into the hands of his brother Jochen, and the presence in the Moto2 World Championship was ensured with a single motorcycle, a KTM, entrusted to the Swiss Dominique Aegerter. The stand of the sponsor “MotoScout24” made it possible to show and present the new livery of the bike with which the team will face 2018, although the problems are far from over: if Kiefer and Aegerter (the latter with a crowdfunding operation on the site ibelieveinyou.ch) have managed to balance the budgets of the team, it is still missing a main sponsor. “If we find other sponsors, we will be able to pay Domi a salary, which is not planned since we cannot afford it” said Jochen Kiefer on this subject.

It does not seem like an easy start for the team, which is getting to know the new KTM (which replaces the Suter with which the team raced in 2017): in fact, during the first tests, Aegerter remained very far from the first . “We are still in the first tests, we can do much better”, Kiefer said.

“It's a bit more difficult, the basic KTM setup is not ideal for me. When exiting corners it worked very well, I had good braking stability, but when I cornered I had problems. In any case, I trust the team, the KTM and WP suspensions”, said Aegerter at the end of the tests.
