Jorge Martin left Moto3 last year with his head held high because he was crowned with a title in the category. He therefore entered Moto2 through the front door with the suit of an official KTM rider. But the factory missed his bike, which made his debut complicated. However, he is not giving up and first wants to remember his latest encouraging results to consider an ambitious second half of the season...

George Martin suffered, like the rest of the KTM clan, the fact that at the Mattighofen factory, we missed the engine turn Triumph in the Moto2 category. The rookie only scored 10 points compared to no less than 58 collected by bastianini who leads the way for beginners. The delay would seem prohibitive for ordinary mortals, but it takes more to discourage the 21-year-old Spaniard: “ I want to continue fighting to be the best rookie of the year in Moto2. It will be difficult because we are 48 points behind who is currently at the top of this ranking at the moment, but I think we still have a chance ».

George Martin describes his first part of the campaign as follows: “ overall it was positive because we are progressing and my bike is improving since the first race. I'm gaining experience and learning what it takes to ride a Moto2 machine. I think I have the speed I need and I'm very happy with the way the team is working with me, despite the setbacks ».

« Don't forget that this is my first year in this class. Overall, I'm happy with the first nine races of the year » adds the teammate Brad Binder. " The best moment was undoubtedly Assen. On Sunday I was able to fight for victory in the race, which is always a good memory. I fell in the last part of the race, but it was still a valuable experience for me to fight with the best drivers in the class ».

For the rest, he reveals his roadmap on Speedweek: “ we have to improve at the end of the race and we will work on it after the holidays. I need to manage the tire better and learn to slide when the tire performance deteriorates. The goal we have set for the second half of the season is to be in the top 10 at every race ". An ambition to be honored this weekend in Brno, where the championship will resume its rights as part of the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic.
