There will be work in the Moto2 workshops in the coming months. On the one hand, chassis manufacturers will have to prepare for the next and last season with the Honda engine. But, on the other hand, they will also have to plan for the 2019 campaign which will be done with Triumph mechanics so different that they will have to start from scratch. A headache, especially for KTM which is in its first year at this level and which is considering satellite teams for 2018. Or not!

Because launching chassis for satellite teams who will have to make do with equipment that will be thrown away the following year is not easy to envisage. A dilemma for the orange brand which is the only one on the Grand Prix field to be officially in the running in all the Grand Prix categories. A situation that the boss Pete Beirer comments thus: “ we have a small team with WP suspensions working on the Moto2 project. They are the support of a two-driver team and now they are being told that we would like them to produce parts for satellite teams. But, at the same time, they are asked to start building the chassis for the Triumph engine ».

« So yes, the question of satellite teams from next year is burning ". On this subject, we are talking about a rise in the structure of Philipp Ottl of Moto3, but CarXpert like the Sky VR46 team are not indifferent to the prospect. The answer is therefore to come, but there is one which is already given by Beirer : " what is certain is that we will test a new chassis with the Triumph engine before the end of this year. This is very clear ».

For this big job, it is Ricky Cardus who should stick with it, unless the test driver finds a team that would take him on for a full season. It will be recalled that KTM's first season in Moto2 this year is more than convincing with a Miguel Oliveira impeccable, third in the provisional general and who can decently think of a success, at least, before the end of this year.
