Having just been titled Moto2 World Champion this Sunday, Francesco Bagnaia took to the keyboard to write a very beautiful message of thanks to his loved ones, of which here is the translation.

“In the last lap, I screamed, cried, starting to realize that at the checkered flag I would become World Champion. How many times have I imagined this moment? But it's an inexplicable feeling. In this cry uttered under the helmet, there was everything, everything that led me to be World Champion. There was 2013, the hardest year of my career, there was the Academy without whom I would probably be at home by now, there was Team Aspar who taught me so much, there were these two wonderful years with Team Sky and my team that I can call “my family”, there were my parents and their sacrifices, there was my sister without whom everything would have been much more difficult, my brother whom I I can't wait to hug, with my grandparents and my aunts and uncles who always follow and support me from home, my girlfriend who surprised me by coming here, to Malaysia, my friends. Seeing Pablo, David, Idalio, Elena, Uccio, Vale alongside the team and all the people who have been by my side makes me smile. In fact, thinking back on the whole season makes me smile, because it was the first time in my career that I played for the title and they all believed in me, always, and they put me in the conditions to achieve it. Together we won, made all the decisions, went through difficult times, lost, and together we started winning again. They taught me a lot and supported me so much. We have always been a team and we have always relied on each other. I like to collect moments and I like people who leave me something. I enjoy leaving something for others as well, and today that’s what’s happening. Each of you left me something and you will always have a special place in my heart, because today I reached my goal, the one I have been working for since the first race of 2013 and without you it would not have been possible. THANK YOU, SIMPLY! »
