Their association first gave rise to the idea of the marriage of the rabbit carp. Nothing a priori brought together a private Moto2 team, whose management hit the legal headlines for a while, and a prestigious name among motorcycle manufacturers. And yet, Forward Racing and MV Agusta have indeed found each other. The last season ended on such an encouraging note that the now Russian owners have increased the level of their involvement. In fact, the boss of the structure, Cuzari, could only be proud to present his troops in Milan at the dawn of the 2020 season with a particular flavor, since it will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Italian brand...

It is in the posh setting of a well-known social venue in the city of Milan that the team Forward Racing showed up on the stage of the 2020 Moto2 season. The name of MV Agusta is more than ever registered on the fairing and the duo of pilots will be composed of a Stefano manzi renewed who will be flanked by a new teammate: the experienced Simone Courses. Two drivers known for their virile style on the track…

Milena Koerner, who leads the team on the field said: “ This is an important year for MV Agusta. The brand is celebrating its 75th anniversary and it's a big anniversary. Considering our end of the championship last year, there are expectations. Our intention is a little different this year. If the last championship was divided into two parts, the first being dedicated to development and the second dedicated to racing, 2020 will be a year of consolidation. »

« There are a lot of things we want to work on, but we've identified areas where we have more room for improvement, and we're starting from a base that looks pretty competitive. » The last race of 2019 left its mark on the team with a Manzi fighting for the podium until the checkered flag: “ What happened in Valencia was also very positive for Stefano, he is also more convinced and aware. He handled the situation well because he remained calm and I must congratulate him again » insists Milena. “ He was very consistent and he didn't even panic. In these moments you also have to be able to handle the pressure that comes from outside, and it's not very easy. What I hope is that he doesn't put too much pressure on himself and that he starts in a relaxed way and has fun. »

With the name of MV Agusta on his bikes, pressure is easy to have, but there is also another side of the coin: “ what we experienced last year with MV fans from all over the world was really exciting. This had never happened to me before, not even with Yamaha. The fans were numerous, warm and really patient. We also hope to give them some satisfaction. »

On the other side of the box, there will be a newcomer, with Simone Courses : « Simone has great experience. We did a test with him in the middle of the championship last year, we liked his approach. He still has a lot to show. I hope there will be a good atmosphere and collaboration. I hope they understand that together we can be stronger »

Manzi, VR46 Riders Academy rider, said: “ as an Italian driver, I am very honored to be part of this important project. I am satisfied with the continuity of the work and I hope to be able to improve even more, especially after the good conclusion of last season, my teammate this year. Corsi is a very experienced driver and one from whom I can certainly learn a lot. I can't wait to get back to my F2 and, as always, do my best to achieve our goals. »

Courses added on InSella.it : " I am very happy to race with a brand like MV Agusta, so rich in history. I have always loved the MV Agusta series motorcycles like the F4, a real gem. I wasn't born when Agostini and MV made motorcycle history. Racing for this brand is an honor and an added incentive for me and the team to bring MV Agusta back to the top of the standings. Since last year the team has done a great job and in the last tests Manzi has always been in front. During the first tests carried out at Jerez in November, I immediately had a good feeling with the F2. We now have all the winter testing to develop the bike and prepare for the first race in Qatar. »
