In his third season with the Forward Racing team, Baldassarri is not entirely satisfied with his results, currently sitting in a modest seventeenth place overall in the World Championship, despite great achievements such as fourth places in Argentina and at Mugello.

It is also a fourth position which is Lorenzo's best placement on the grid this year, at the Misano Grand Prix. Next year, Baldassarri will be part of the team Site Pons, alongsideHector Barbera. He spoke with Diana Tamantini of corsedimoto.com for an interview, of which here are some excerpts.

The young Italian is not satisfied with his 2017 season, because according to him “ so far we have failed to achieve what we wanted. It will be very important to be competitive in the last races, one of which will take place on one of my favorite tracks and one of the most beautiful in the world. I'm talking about Phillip Island where I got my first podium in the category in 2015.

“Overall this year we had a lot of difficulties: after a difficult start, we became competitive again, but the accident in Assen damaged this trend, and coming back afterwards was not easy. But now we are back, I am fit again and ready for the next race.

“At the start of the season, there were mainly physical problems. The positive aspect is that this year I did not have the back problem that I had during the previous season, but I had an inflammation of the tendon in my arm this winter, which fortunately resolved.

“On the technical side, the start of the year was difficult, especially because we couldn't find a good base with the new bike. This year I have accumulated nine zeros, which is far too many in a championship.

“On a technical level, however, it was one of the best seasons of my life with Forward, with whom I had three great years, during which I grew. So I think it was mostly bad luck.

“After three years with the same team, I felt the need for a change of scenery. I immediately took advantage of the opportunity, and I was very happy when I heard the news of the possibility of racing for the Pons team, a very advanced team with a lot of experience in Moto2, where the small things can make a difference.

“I'm very motivated, but I don't forget the three seasons with Forward, which allowed me to grow and constantly improve as a driver. »
