The Moto2 category has already offered us two nice surprises during the first day of the Qatar Grand Prix: on the one hand the confirmation that the Spanish rookie Arón Canet was not afraid to ride his Kalex from the Aspar team, On the other hand, the emergence of Joe Roberts, driver of the American Racing team, who closed the day in the lead after being 5th in the morning!

Yesterday, the Spaniard concluded FP1 in a very good 3rd position before being unable to improve in FP2, while theAmerican simply undermined the track record after a series of really very consistent laps!  Without necessarily having any connection with his performance, we will still note that this rider uses a rear brake on the handlebars...

We will of course follow these two boys during this 3-minute FP40 on the 5,4 kilometer route of the Qatari circuit, without forgetting the Italians Marco Bezzecchi (Kalex, Sky Racing Team VR46) and Luca marini (Kalex, Sky Racing Team VR46) very lively yesterday, as well as Tetsuta Nagashima (Kalex, Red Bull KTM Ajo), Xavi Virgo (Kalex, Petronas Sprinta Racing) and Augusto Fernandez (Kalex, EG 0,0 Marc VDS).

Also worth watching Tom Luthi (Kalex, Liqui Moly Intact GP), the fastest in FP1, who was trapped in FP2, just like Remy gardner (Kalex, Onexox TKKR SAG Team).

Conversely, Sam Lowes (Kalex, EG 0,0 Marc VDS) unfortunately withdrew for the rest of the weekend, still suffering too much from the consequences of his fall during testing in Jerez which damaged his shoulder.

Here are the references available at the time when the 29 pilots are preparing in the boxes, the conditions remain perfect, with an immaculate sky, a fairly present wind and temperatures of 28° in the air and 41° on the ground:

Edgar Pons (Kalex, Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) is the first to hit the track when the red lights go out.

The first reference of the day is to the credit of Remy gardner (Kalex, Onexox TKKR SAG Team) after his first flying lap in 1'59.503. The Australian rider suffered a severe crash yesterday and is currently only in 16th place in the combined standings.

In the wake, Fabio di Giannantonio (Speed Up, +Ego Speed Up) recorded a 1'59.285 while turn #6 claimed a new victim in the person of Simone Corsi (MV Agusta, MV Agusta Temporary Forward).

After 12 minutes, the rookie Aron Canet (Speed Up, Aspar team) took command in 1'59.271, a time very close to his 1'59.215 achieved yesterday.

Remy gardner (Kalex, Onexox TKKR SAG Team) experienced his second fall of the weekend, this time at turn #15 and without seriousness.

At mid-session, the hierarchy is dominated by the Speed Up, with Aron Canet (Speed Up, Aspar team), Fabio di Giannantonio (Speed Up, +Ego Speed Up), Jorge Navarro (Speed Up, +Ego Speed Up) in front Marco Bezzecchi (Kalex, SKY Racing Team VR46) and Enea Bastianini (Kalex, Italtrans Racing Team).

On the restart, the teamwork of the Sky Racing Team VR46 team allows Lucas Marini to move up from 17th to 8th place.

In the leading group, Aron Canet et Fabio DiGiannantonio improved their partials, which allowed the young Spanish rookie to take the lead in 1'59.019, i.e. the 5th time in the combined ranking, before making a great rescue in the next lap...

In extremis, Remy gardner (Kalex, Onexox TKKR SAG Team) set the fourth fastest time of the session, which allowed him to be 11th overall and to be pre-qualified for Q2.
