Mattia Pasini completed his second season in Moto2 with Italtrans Racing in brilliant fashion, with a victory at Mugello, a podium at Silverstone, another at Aragon, and even another at Catalunya canceled due to an unclear penalty.

The rider from Rimini gave emotions and a high level duel with his friend from the Academy Franco Morbidelli (with whom he won the 100 km of the Ranch) and is now preparing to continue his journey towards the world title and that dream called MotoGP.

2017 was an exciting season. What has changed compared to previous years?

“Nothing special and everything. We continued working with the group built in 2016, with details we needed to improve, which was easier than starting from scratch. That was the biggest advantage. Two years with the same bike and the same team, especially in Moto2, which is a category where the result is built with the team, was very important.

After such a championship, what are the objectives for the next one?

“The goal is to fight for the title. I think we showed that it could be within our reach. And try to make fewer mistakes than last year because they definitely compromised the championship. Also continue to work as we have done over the last two years, that is to say growing.

You won the 100 km of the Ranch with Morbidelli. Are you going to miss wrestling with Franco this year?

“Franco will certainly be missed in Moto2, but it is true that he is following his path in MotoGP. He was World Champion, so the transition is deserved. But there will surely be other adversaries to fight.

Will Morbidelli be immediately competitive in the premier class?

“It’s a difficult question, he’s certainly a very strong and intelligent driver and I think he’ll be a fast driver.

What are you missing to take another step?

“Surely know how to be satisfied, and then reduce errors.

Is there any regret at having seen the podium disappear in Catalonia?

“Honestly, I got on the podium, I got on it, it was a great race and we still don't understand the reasons for the disqualification because they're still a bit vague. The regret is there, but it wouldn't have changed anything in the Championship, so let's think about next year.

A prediction for 2018 in MotoGP and Moto2?

“For Moto2 I won't do it, for MotoGP I hope to see Valentino Rossi challenge for the title. »
