Despite being one of the fastest drivers in the intermediate Grand Prix category, Mattia Pasini is still not on the list. list of 2019 Moto2 riders.

The Italian driver, however, is training as if nothing had happened, and has just given an exclusive interview to skysport.it.

It appears from the answers to Antonio Boselli's questions that Mattia Pasini still sees no solution to his current problem, but that a sabbatical year, if it were to be confirmed, would not be likely to put an end to his career. We even glimpse an almost philosophical and serene Mattia Pasini, quite far from the image that is often stuck on him...

Hello Mattia, how are you facing this period?

“I train exactly as if I were going to Qatar, I am a professional and I lead the life of a pilot. Places in Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP are all taken. So yes, at the moment I don't have any space. Let's say that for now, the only way to race would be if one of the Moto2 teams realized they made the wrong choice and came for me. But be careful, I did not make compromises in the various negotiations this summer and I am not ready to do so now. I want a team with which I can win races and win the World Championship.”

In retrospect, would you make different choices?

“I would say no, because I had three pole positions, several times the fastest laps…. I mean, I went fast. But it is obvious that teams need, more than fast drivers, drivers who allow them to make ends meet. But I am still young (smile) but I am still optimistic for the future: for one door that closes, others open. Of course, I’m sorry to be on foot in January, but that’s how it is.”

Let's try to make some predictions: who do you think are the favorites in 2019 for the three categories?

“In MotoGp I say Rossi, Marquez and Dovizioso, in Moto3 Dalla Porta and Masia, in Moto2 Binder, Marini and…Pasini! ".

We saw a great photo of you with the whole group of Valentino Rossi and Bryan Touch them....

“Those are the real problems of life, not Pasini who doesn't have a motorbike: it was a beautiful Sunday with Bryan, who fights like a lion”.
