What a race. In Catalonia, the actors of the intermediate category offered us a festival; undoubtedly one of the most beautiful recent events. In Misano, the young aspirants are back at it again with the P2 Moto2. Jake Dixon (Gaviota GasGas Aspar Team) is the latest winner, he who resisted Arón Canet (Pons Wegow Los40) until the last moments to amass a magnificent success. The Spaniard, second for the 12th time in Moto2 (!), has still not won! Clearly, he is one of the men to watch this weekend. In third place, we found a Red Bull KTM Ajo rider, but not Pedro Acosta! Indeed, it was Albert Arenas, his teammate, who took his first podium in the category here.
The young prodigy was relegated to sixth place but retains the lead in the general classification. Especially since its closest rival, Tony Arbolino (Elf MarcVDS Racing Team) did not score a single point, and is now 22 points behind. Clearly, the Italian must do something on his land to stop the bleeding. We advise you, of course, to keep an eye on the Speed Up Racing pair; Alonso lopez et Fermin Aldeguer, both very fast, but also on the local Celestine Vietti (Fantic Racing). Winner in Austria, the latest protégé of the VR46 Academy will be keen to please his team on the track dedicated to him. This morning, Pedro Acosta masterfully dominated P1, followed – at a distance – by Ai Ogura and Vietti.
Come relive this P2 with us! Before we begin, here is a table which summarizes the facts known so far:

The sun is still present in Misano, and should remain so for the whole weekend.

The session had barely started whenAi Ogura (Honda Idemitsu Team Asia) was already called to the pits for a mechanical problem on his Kalex-Triumph. Immediately, Peter Acosta takes the lead, exactly like this morning. At the same time, Somkiat Chantra (Honda Idemitsu Team Asia) experiences a fall. What a highside!
Not a good start for @honda_team_asia 💥
Nasty highside for @somkiat35 but thankfully he's back on his feet 🆗#SanMarinoGP 🇸🇲 pic.twitter.com/ZZ3r0RweKO

Shortly after, it is Albert Arenas who suffered his second crash of the day, and not the least! Clearly, Moto2 riders are hot. Filip Salač (QJMotor Gresini Moto2), also on the ground this morning, joins Acosta at the top of the provisional ranking.
Two quick crashes in succession 💥

Then, it's Celestine Vietti who comes to tickle Peter Acosta, but only from afar. The Spaniard seems easy, half a second ahead of the Italian. While another double fall is to be reported, as strange as the previous ones! Barry Baltus (Fieten Olie Racing GP) loses the rear, and takes away Rory Skinner (American racing) in his misfortune. An impressive image and a trying day for the Belgian.
Unlucky tangle between Barry Baltus and @RorySkinnRacing 🫢
Nice to see Rory giving a thumbs up to Barry 👍#SanMarinoGP 🇸🇲 pic.twitter.com/UIDV1SQ2B7

Note that for the moment, Tony Arbolino is not among the 12 fastest, and if this continues until P3 tomorrow, he could make it through Q1. Given Acosta's domination so far, this poor form should not last.
Another pilot Fieten Olie Racing GP is on the ground; but this time it's about Zonta van den Goorbergh. All this does not disturb Pedro Acosta, which continues to improve. He is now 0,7 seconds ahead of Celestine Vietti, and remains the only one in 1'35! Later, Aron Canet fall in turn.
The only one into the 1:35s 😎

He even allows himself to light up the sectors in red on his last lap! But where does it come from? Celestine Vietti is second, while Jake dixon goes 3rd at the end of the session. A final fall is to be reported, the second of Somkiat Chantra. It's rare to see such strong domination in the intermediate category, it's simply impressive. Arbolino is in distress.
