Born in Montecchio Emilia in 1999, the son of Grand Prix rider Davide Bulega began to make a name for himself in CEV, becoming at the age of 16 in 2015 Junior World Champion in Moto3. His recruitment into the VR46 Riders Academy allowed him to race full-time in Grands Prix from 2016 on a KTM.

But the results did not come, with in four years of Moto3 only a second place at Jerez and a third at Motegi in 2016. It was that year that he obtained his best place in the Championship with 7th final position, before finishing 12th in 2017 and 26th in 2018.

Despite these few results, Valentino Rossi's training team gave him a chance in Moto2, because it is true that his height (1,81 m and 70 kg) was a definite handicap in Moto3.

Currently, on the eve of the Misano race, Bulega is 17th overall with 28 points, compared to 181 for leader Álex Márquez. Nicolò's best race result was seventh in Brno, and in qualifying fourth in Mugello and Brno. THE Sky Racing Team VR 46 therefore decided to do without his services, but fortunately Fausto Gresini offered to welcome him to the Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Team for the next two years.

According to Nicholas Bulega, who are " This weekend is going to be filled with emotions, because I will be racing my home GP, which is one kilometer from my house. Riding in front of so many friends and family makes me really excited. »

“The agreement with the Gresini team for the next two seasons marked a very important moment in my career and gives me new motivation. I can't wait to start this new journey, although the season is still very long.

“I intend to work hard to finish it in the best possible way with the current team, Sky Racing Team VR46. »

“After six seasons with them, four of them under the SKY Racing Team VR46 banner, it will be strange to wear different colors and work with a different crew, but I have to thank Fausto Gresini for the trust he has placed in me . I will try to reciprocate with great effort, dedication and results. »

According to Fausto Gresini, team owner, “ Our Moto2 season hasn't gone very well this year, although we still hope to finish on a positive note. »

“For next year, however, we are going to put together a big team, which will be made up of two riders, one of which will be Nicolò Bulega. He is Italian, still very young and very promising, so we are confident that he will do great things with us. »

“I really wanted to have him with us because I think he is one of the best Italian talents. I can't wait for things to begin and to work with such a talented driver. »
