After renewing its partnership agreement with its main Indonesian sponsor, Federal Oil, Fausto Gresini has just announced that its riders for next season will be the new European and CEV Moto2 Champion Edgar Pons (photo above), as well as as the Italian Nicolò Bulega.

The partnership between Gresini Racing and Federal Oil is part of the history of the team which is preparing to launch its new Grand Prix season with the arrival of CEV Moto2 Champion Edgar Pons – son of the famous Sito – who had already raced with his father in 2016 and 2017. With Bulega he forms a very young team (24 years old for the Spaniard and 20 years old for the Italian), but at the same time with a lot of experience.

Once again, the red and white Triumph-powered Moto2s will be supported by the Indonesian motorcycle lubrication giant, which is one of the series' oldest title sponsors. The objective for the whole team will be to return to the top after a disappointing 2019 season, but full of expectations.

The new season for Bulega and Pons will already start on November 20 and 21 with the first tests in 2020.

According to Edgar Pons, “First of all, I want to thank the whole Gresini Racing team and especially Fausto for the huge opportunity he gave me. Coming back to the MotoGP World Championship with this team is simply incredible and I'm really looking forward to meeting my new team and trying the Triumph. »

“Last season I rode with the Honda engine, but for sure the 750cc engine will be a lot more fun to ride. I will do my best to be at my best and to have the best season possible. I will do my best to be as close to the front as possible. Thanks again to everyone. »

To Fausto Gresini, the team owner, “I would like to start with the partnership with Federal Oil, which I consider very special. We're going into season nine together and I couldn't be happier than to share with them what's going to be a really interesting season. »

“We will again have two drivers in this category and with Edgar we add speed and experience. We wanted to be among the protagonists this year, but unfortunately we did not succeed, but our only goal is to return near the front. »

According to Patrick Adhiatmadja, President of Federal Oil, “I am delighted to extend our partnership with Gresini Racing for the ninth consecutive season. We have common goals when it comes to growing the brand and fan base and building loyalty in Indonesia. »

“This ninth season is all the more special as we begin it with two riders, both under the Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 banner. We look forward to a strong season in 2020 to further strengthen consumer and fan confidence in our brand. »
