Moto2 Portimao-2 FP1: Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez are united in 14 thousandths

During this Algarve Grand Prix, Rémy Gardner could win his first world title. With his father Wayne, crowned World Champion in the 500cc category in 1987, they would become the second father and son to both be world champions, with Kenny Roberts and Kenny Roberts Jr.

During the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Sam Lowes won for the ninth time in Moto2, one less than Rod Gould who is third on the list of the most successful British riders in the intermediate category. Lowes also won for the third time since the start of the year after Qatar and Doha, which is as many as last season. This was the 12th victory for the United Kingdom in Moto2 which breaks down as follows: nine with Sam Lowes, three with Scott Redding.

Augusto Fernandez had finished second for his 10th podium in Moto2, and the first time it was a second place. Aron canet had taken third place for his fifth podium in Moto2, all this year. It was also Boscoscuro's sixth podium finish in Moto2. At the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Celestine Vietti had finished fourth for the best result of his rookie season so far.

The two Moto2 races that took place at Portimao were won by two different riders: Remy Gardner last year from pole position and Raul fernandez This year. These were the first victories of Gardner et Fernandez in this category. Sam Lowes et Aron canet are the only other drivers to have reached the category podium on this circuit.

Under the checkered flag, Remy gardner wins in 1'43.667. He is only 14 thousandths ahead Raul fernandez while Canet, Vietti Garzo get ahead Dixon et Bezzecchi. Sam Lowes, the latest winner is only 14th.
