The Moto2 private test in Portimao gave Jake Dixon and Filip Salac their first opportunity to put the Marc VDS team's new Boscoscuro chassis through its paces, and both riders from the Belgian team delivered performances that exceeded their expectations. A good omen for the 2025 season.

This week, Jake Dixon took his first steps within the Marc VDS team, but also his first laps with the Boscoscuro chassis, after a few years spent on the Kalex of the Aspar team. However, he immediately found the keys to exploiting the potential of the Italian chassis during the two days of Moto2 testing in Portugal.

At the end of Day 1, the Briton was already in eighth place in the general classification, with a time of 1:43,072. The number 96 had not said his last word, however, since on the second day, he went for even better. More favorable weather conditions allowed him to find his settings, and he thus achieved the second time of the day.

With a benchmark time of 1:41.281, only Aron Canet, rider of the Fantic team and favourite for the title in 2025, was able to do better than Jake Dixon. With this time, the Marc VDS rider was only three tenths of a second off Manuel Gonzalez's record, set at the 2024 Portuguese Grand Prix. Needless to say, Dixon's performance on his new machine impressed. He was the first to be surprised.

“It’s great to finally get on track with the Elf Marc VDS racing team, and these two days were very important for us, Jake Dixon confides in comments relayed by his team. This is the first time I drive the Boscoscuro chassis after a few years with Kalex. There are certainly many positives, but also some points we need to work on.”

I'm not really sure what I expected from the bike, but I have to say that the Boscoscuro chassis really exceeded my expectations, so I'm really happy with it, He continues. We did a lot of consistent laps and tried a lot of changes to try to understand the bike and we were constantly improving.”

Next week, Jake Dixon will have three more days of testing before the opening round of the season. These will be held at the Jerez circuit, as part of the official Moto2 and Moto3 pre-season tests.

“It’s great to be part of this team. They have a very calming influence on me and now I’m looking forward to arriving in Spain next week to continue working on the bike and be as ready as we can be for the first race in Buriram.” concludes Jake Dixon.
