Despite the offensive from the highly coveted KTM, Kalex remains to this day both the 2017 world champion firm and the one which will equip the most competitors next year, with no less than 19 units.

As such, the German manufacturer received its Triumph Moto2 engine before the others, which allowed the creation of a first prototype of which we had already glimpsed a video here.

The site speedweek is now releasing the first photos of the beauty which, let us note, is hardly different from its sister with a Honda engine, despite an exhaust placed on the right.

Alexander Baumgärtel, general manager of Kalex Engineering: “These are early photos of the Triumph engine on the dyno. So far everything is working. We installed a standard engine, but with the appropriate oil pan and a standard ECU.

The first on-track deployment will probably take place in Spain at the end of February. Then it will be tested with Julian Simon for reasons of simplicity. It was only later that our test pilot, Jesko Raffin, will be on the circuit. »

All manufacturers who signed for the Moto2 World Championship in 2018, i.e. Kalex, KTM, Speed Up, Tech3, Suter and NTS, can carry out ten days of testing with Triumph engines during the coming season, regardless of the circuits and the drivers.

Potential newcomers have no testing limitations.
