It is often said that happy people have no story but, paradoxically, that does not prevent us from emphasizing it: during the first Grand Prix of the 2 Moto2022 season which took place on the Losail circuit in Qatar, Celestino Vietti Ramus scored a nice Hat Trick by starting from pole position before setting the fastest lap in the race and then obtaining victory? Hats off!

Third in FP1 and fourth in FP2, the first day of the Qatar Grand Prix looked good for the young Italian from the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, and his 11th place in FP3, under a Qatari sun not conducive to improvements, did not did not compromise his direct passage into Qualification 2 which would determine the places on the first rows of the starting grid.

There, the Piedmontese benefited from the downgrading of Sam Lowes to appear in pole position, an opportunity that he did not let pass the next day at the start, by taking the holeshot on the handlebars of his Kalex displaying the inscription “PEACE” on its fairing sides.

The rest of the story is clear, with the best lap in the race (1'59.053) achieved on the sixth lap, then a lead which only grew until it had a gap of more than six seconds on the second classified, the valiant Arón Canet.

He scored his first victory in Moto2, after two in Moto3 in 2020, for his fourth season in the world championship.

Celestino Vietti Ramus: « The best victory I could have hoped for! I knew I was fast, but I didn't think I would have this pace and be able to do this kind of race. I gave everything, but I didn't think I would be able to do that with the soft tire. We knew there were a lot of fast riders, the plan was to start well and push hard from the first corner. Then I made two small mistakes in the middle of the race, but I tried to stay calm and finish in the best way possible. I'm also happy for the team because they did a lot during the pre-season and for everyone who always believed in me. I couldn't ask for more for the first race of the season and for the first victory in Moto2. »

Pablo Nieto: « A special Sunday for Celestino, the whole team and all the partners who support us. Great work from the team and a perfect race after yesterday's pole position. He handled the long race very well after a difficult pre-season and took his first Moto2 victory. »
