Unfortunately, participating in a motorcycle championship requires a lot of effort, which leads to joy when results are achieved, but unfortunately there is also a negative part in all this. It usually does not happen that a team disbands, but This was the case of Preicanos in Moto2, led by the founder Edu Perales (former owner of the SAG team also in Moto2 with the Stop & GO company) and the CEO of Preico. Jurídicos, Raúl Castañeda, who had been in command of the team since June of that same year.

“We were very excited for the next 2 years, to continue being in the MotoGP World Championship, and the truth is that we had already done our planning. We already had our flights, everything was done. And when you then see that you can't continue because there is a force majeure and it's not my own decision, then of course you are a little broken. Preicanos Racing team will always exist because it's something that I carry here in my heart, it's a passion for motorcycles and maybe now it's going to be a break because it shouldn't have happened, it could have been avoided 8 or 9 months ago, I'll explain, but it's a break " , detailed first Raul Castaneda.

"He confessed to us that he had not paid the insurance he had taken out for the pilots."

When Edu initially contacted him, Raul went to the team headquarters with his lawyer Carlos, where they talked. "He showed us the whole team, the three floors, everything very well. When we were in his office, He confessed to us that he had not paid the insurance he had for the pilots, that if we continued to search Who is responsible and who should pay Carlos Tatay?, we already knew first-hand that he had not paid the insurance", he began to tell us.

"We told him that in principle the insurance company would take care of it and that if they didn't, we would obviously have to take action against them.", explained Raúl Castañeda. "He confessed to me that the team had no money to put gas in the truck and returning from Italy to Spain, that his employees had not been paid for several months, that he had a lot of debts up to 1 euros », he revealed.

"I already knew the young people, the mechanics, the engineers, the drivers that we had, Jaume Masià and Bob Bendsneyder, and Dani Muñoz was about to come in. I thought, 'I'm watching something historic, because if I don't come and give them a hand, a team that includes Moto3 world champion to disappear in the middle of the season' », he remembers.

"I want to be here if possible for the rest of my life."

Castañeda points out that Perales insisted: "He told me at that precise moment that either I joined the team or I disappeared and I would never get that opportunity. So I told him OK, but we are talking about a lot of money, I wanted the places to be guaranteed for me because I didn't want to commit to a few months: I want to be there if possible for the rest of my life ", did he declare.

He told me : "Okay, but for the first few weeks or months, the seats may not be in your name yet. You have to let me manage this little by little, because it's not normal. But above all, They must not find out that I have a lot of debts, because it is one of the key points for me to be able to continue participating in the World Championship", Raúl said, quoting Edu Perales.

In the end, Raul's purchase did not happen. "No, because I have advanced almost a total of 2,5 million euros more than what was already planned and that there was another amount missing that I didn't want to put in. It always took me a lot of time to get the tickets and he didn't let me speak directly with Dorna or IRTA », did he declare. "Until I went to Malaysia where I saw strange things and because there was also a person who was a veteran in the world of MotoGP, and who is still there today. He told me: 'Raul, be careful, they will never be in your name, they did not tell you the whole truth.'

"He insisted at that precise moment that I had to join the team or I would disappear"

But that's not all, Raúl Castañeda had to pay the salaries of several employees out of his own pocket. "Eduardo had so much debt that he had no choice but to cling to me because he knew he had just been ruined. I know what it's like to be hungry, I know what it's like to have nothing and I wanted to help him. What he used was that I was the only person who was going to make him pay his debts and that they were going to continue until the end of the season.", he said.

« He wasted his life for a passion, the fact is that he dragged me down with him. The fact is that now, luckily or unluckily, 2,5 million euros is a lot of money. But we were able to pay them.", Raul Castañeda said without mincing words.
