Tony Arbolino

The second part of the Grand Prix season will also be very lively in Moto2 where the duel between Tony Arbolino and Pedro Acosta will continue for the title. But the stakes go beyond that since the defeat will be branded in the career and track record of one of them. Furthermore, this fight continues behind the scenes, since Pedro Acosta's manager is Albert Valera who also takes care of Jorge Martin while opposite we have Carlo Pernat who takes great care of Arbolino and who placed Bastianini on the Red Ducati so coveted by Martin... And then there is the annoying tendency which creates this feeling that everything is already due to Acosta, including for the title still at stake, a competition in which he is still only second in Arbolino in the provisional general classification…

Pedro Acosta is already insured by KTM of a place in MotoGP in 2024. For Tony Arbolino, Charles Pernat works there. The Italian is his only lawyer and his immediate results his only pleading. Make fun of Acosta for the Moto2 title this year would certainly make a small impact in a paddock where speaking Spanish is a plus.

His teammate Sam Lowes, recently assured of an adventure in WSBK on a Ducati in the colors of a Marc VDS Racing who is therefore entering a new competition, knows the subject and the environment. On GP One, he commented: “ if he has the right luck with good people, Tony will definitely succeed in MotoGP ". And he reminds us that this 2023 moment is crucial: “ if you are in this paddock now, then you must be in MotoGP. And in Moto2, you have to strike while the iron is hot. When you are fit, you have to go to MotoGP. Because you never know what will happen if you stay. It's a very tight category ».

Sam Lowes: “ when Tony Arbolino gets the chance he will go to MotoGP because he deserves it »

He adds : " there is no need to procrastinate, because whoever wins every week rides a Kalex, with Ohlins suspension and Dunlop tires like everyone else. Especially with the Triumph engine, which allows you to ride in different ways ". Then he finishes about his teammate: “I heard rumors… Pedro Acosta is going to MotoGP. I don't know if Tony will go next year or the year after. But when he gets the chance, he'll go because he deserves it ».

The Italian of 22 years old, is a Moto3 world vice-champion in 2020 and an eight-time Grand Prix winner, three times in Moto3, and on five occasions in Moto2. He leads the Moto2 world championship standings thanks to six podiums in eight races, and victories at Las Termas and Le Mans. He is eight points ahead of Peter Acosta.

And he is well aware of this particular moment so well described by Sam Lowes : " my situation has never been better than it is now, given where we are now. In the last 12 races I have had nine podiums. I have no doubts when I arrive in the paddock on Thursday. I am always very relaxed. If I had to sum it all up in one word, it would be calm, or serenity. And it's a good thing. I feel like I'm in the flow, in the best possible position ". He must therefore make it happen, or regret it forever.
