The British driver injured his right shoulder during a private training session recently held at the Jerez–Ángel Nieto circuit.

Victim of a fall during a training session in Jerez, Sam Lowes went to the Universitari Dexeus Hospital in Barcelona to undergo medical examinations. Doctor Xavier Mir made the diagnosis.

The x-rays, ultrasounds and MRI performed confirmed a fracture-dislocation of the right shoulder presenting a fracture of the greater humerus without displacement and a complete rupture of all the scapulo-humeral ligaments.

The initial treatment will consist of alternating rest and passive functional recovery sessions. Secondly, a radiological and ultrasound check will be carried out to assess the establishment of active-passive functional recovery.

In these unfortunate circumstances, Sam Lowes is trying hard to stay positive. The Briton is now impatient to begin an active recovery in order to be able to resume a working dynamic as soon as possible in order to get back on his new bike as quickly as possible.

The estimated recovery time for this type of injury is approximately four weeks. In the case of Sam Lowes, it is the evolution of his injury which will decide his return to the team dynamic.
