Moto2

Moto2 resumes its tour after the summer break. The first of eleven remaining stops is this weekend at Silverstone, for the British Grand Prix. Before starting the hostilities of this second part of the season, it is Sergio Garcia who leads the way, with seven points ahead of his teammate, Ai Ogura. Injured at Assen, Joe Roberts was not 100% at Sachsenring, but certainly took advantage of the interruption of racing to return to the top and begin to make up for his deficit of 24 units this weekend.

Before we begin, here is a table which summarizes the known facts:

After snatching pole position from Aron Canet this Saturday, Ai Ogura took the lead at the first corner in front of Celestino Vietti, while Jake Dixon and Aron Canet joined the battle for first place.

Before the end of the first pass, the No. 44 had already taken control, and was starting to distance itself from its competitors. Author of an excellent start to the race, Joe Roberts managed to forget his poor performance in Qualifying, and quickly climbed back into the top-3. The American was, however, slowed down in his momentum by a fall at turn 2, which destroyed his chances of achieving a good performance in the championship.

At mid-race, Canet still leads the race ahead of Jake Dixon, while Manuel Gonzalez takes advantage of a few racing events to climb into the top-3. His neighbor in the garage, Albert Arenas, was then fourth.

The leading duo then broke away, but the fight for victory remained intense. It is at the start of the last loop that Jake Dixon places his attack. The Briton will then resist the attacks of Aron Canet to achieve a victory at home in Moto2. Celestino Vietti stands out from the rest of the peloton, and completes the podium.

Fermin Aldeguer never found his rhythm this weekend, and finished the event in an anonymous 12th place.

Sergio Garcia made a surprising comeback at Silverstone. Starting from 16th place on the starting grid, the championship leader outperformed the competition to approach the last three laps with a provisional fourth place, which he managed to transform. The bad operation of the day therefore attributed to Ai Ogura. The pole sitter had a golden opportunity to take control of the championship from his teammate, and did not take advantage of it.

The fourth lap was marked by the fall of Tony Arbolino at turn 6. A disappointment for the Italian who had been in good form since the start of the weekend. Somkiat Chantra will imitate it a few moments later.
