Moto2, Aldeguer

In difficulty since the start of the weekend on the Silverstone circuit, Fermin Aldeguer had a big poor performance during Moto2 Qualifying. An unpleasant surprise for the future MotoGP rider who thought he could reverse the trend after an already disappointing Friday.

The SpeedUP team missed out on its Saturday in Great Britain. During P2, Alonso Lopez failed to improve on his time of 2'04.087 set the day before, although the latter was enough to propel him directly into Q2. However, things were more complicated for his garage neighbor, Fermin Aldeguer, 18th in the session.

The Spaniard made up for it in Q1, setting the best time ahead of Albert Arenas. The time he posted was, however, well below the pace posted by the leading men this weekend. This was confirmed a few dozen minutes later, since the Spaniard did not manage to do better than a fourth row.

“We thought we were making progress today, but unfortunately we didn't have the improvements we were hoping for, he confides after a day to forget. We have not gone backwards, but we have not moved forward either. We decided to go back to the bike setup we had at Sachsenring. In Q1, I felt pretty good with my Boscoscuro, but I was still more than a second behind the leader.

In Q2, I tried to follow Roberts, but it wasn't a good choice, because his references were different from mine, continues Aldeguer. I'm optimistic for tomorrow's race, and I think it's possible to catch up with the others and maybe finish in the top5. »

It remains to be seen if the No. 54 will finally find the rhythm to limit the damage to the championship. As a reminder, the SpeedUP driver currently occupies fourth place in the general classification, 39 units from the lead defended by Ai Ogura.

For Alonso Lopez, the day was also not very successful. Like his teammate, however, the latter prefers to display a certain optimism for the rest of the weekend.

“The day did not go as we had hoped, but despite this, tomorrow we will have the opportunity to make a good start and quickly regain positions. The aim of tomorrow's race is to get good points for the drivers' championship." adds Lopez.
