This weekend, at his highly anticipated home Grand Prix in Great Britain, Jake Dixon will be wearing a helmet unlike any other. More than just a racing accessory, it's a tribute to Luca Guintoli, the son of World Superbike champion Sylvain Guintoli, who was diagnosed with cancer last July.
This special helmet isn't the work of a professional designer, but rather Luca himself. Despite the uphill battle he's currently facing, he conceived and designed the helmet Jake Dixon will wear throughout the weekend at Silverstone.
A white helmet with a blue hand in the center that reads 'Go get them'. A rather understated design, adorned with the British flag, a nod to the origins of Jake Dixon, who is racing on home soil this weekend.
“Sarah and I (Jake Dixon’s wife. Editor’s note) wanted Sylvain to design this helmet, confides the British pilot in a video capsule published on his Instagram account with TNT Sports. It's a great design. It came with a fantastically patterned helmet that I'll be proud to wear during the British Grand Prix."
Jake Dixon, deeply moved by Luca's story, wanted to show his support in the most beautiful way possible. By wearing this helmet, he hopes to send a message of encouragement and solidarity to Luca and his family, while also raising public awareness of their struggle.
At the end of the weekend, Jake Dixon won't be keeping the helmet for his personal collection. In keeping with his charitable approach, he announced that he would donate the helmet to a charity of the Guintoli family's choice, with the goal of auctioning it off to raise as much money as possible to help children in need.
