The idea was born at the end of last season in Moto2. The Speed ​​Up team led by Luca Boscoscuro dropped their WP suspensions to try the adventure Kayaba. A Japanese brand close to Yamaha adopted by the Tech3 team for their Mistral 610. But from the first tests of the off-season, the new pilots Danny Kent and fabio quartararo were struggling with these new utensils. The boss, at the end of the final tests in Jerez, has decided: his motorcycles will run with Öhlins.

« We cannot change suspensions every day » declared one Luca Boscoscuro who nevertheless went from WP to Öhlins via an offseason in KYB. “ Developing a suspension takes a lot of time. I spoke to my drivers after the tests. And they wanted to change. We filmed four days in November with the KYB then five days in 2018. But the season will be done in Öhlins ».

A turnaround that fabio quartararo commented after these last tests: “ we have to work even more because this is the first time we are using Öhlins. We only did fifteen laps with it and we are far from ideal settings. What differences do they bring? I can't say it yet ».

The season will begin on March 18 in Qatar…
