Moto2 Styria FP2: Remy Gardner faster but third of the day

The first Moto2 game in this Styrian Grand Prix was marked by Marco Bezzecchi eager to be uncompromising on the Red Bull Ring. Aggressive on the track, responding to each attack with his best time, the VR46 driver finished his performance in the lead. However, the competition will not let him have his festival throughout this meeting which marks the start of the school year after a five-week break. Because 20 drivers are gathered in one second. 

The Italian who is said to soon be installed on a Yamaha petronas en MotoGP did not let himself be counted out and, for 80 thousandths, he completed the morning session as the inaugural session of this Styrian Grand Prix in the lead. Augusto Fernandez follows as Canet et Dallas Port who play their youth to thwart the experience of Sam Lowes.

Ai Ogura is a promising rookie since he keeps the two championship leaders behind him Gardner et Raul fernandez. Manzi et NAVARRO ensure that the top 10 has a bit of diversity in terms of chassis. But what will happen this afternoon? Before discovering the verdict of this FP2, here is the table which summarizes the facts known so far.

20°5 in the air and 22°5 on a track which is drying out after a shower started at the end of FP2 of Moto3 are the conditions proposed to the drivers for the 40 minutes of exercise.

Courses fall at the entry turn 4 while Bezzecchi begins the session with the same anger as that seen during Fp1. Here he is in the lead with a time of 1'31.882. Arbolino nevertheless responded with 60 thousandths less against the clock. NAVARRO fall at turn 9 and the VR46 driver takes control in 1'30.479.

The track is improving, which is indicated by a Aron Canet in 1'30.048 which is ahead Raul Fernandez, Gardner, Schrotter et Chantra. Bezzecchi seventh must return to the attack.

Remy gardner passes in 1'29.910. He is the only one, halfway through the session, to be below the 1'30 mark since Sam Lowes, his second is in 1'30.008. But the other driver Marc VDS Augusto Fernandez passes the milestone in 1'29.929.

Raul fernandez keeps his Australian teammate under pressure by taking the lead with a 1'29.766 as the session enters its final half. During this time, Bezzecchi dropped to 15th place. He is therefore no longer even in Q2 with 18 minutes to go. But everything remains possible as shown Dallas Port who takes the lead in 1'29.663.

The beautiful series of Bezzecchi takes a hit with a fall during turn 1. He is nevertheless fourth, behind Raul Fernandez, Sam Lowes et Dallas Port.

The last five minutes have begun and Remy Gardner accelerates in 1'29.244, ahead Sam Lowes, Tom Lüthi et Augusto Fernandez.  Canet fall at turn 9 as Syahrin et Bendsnyeder is down at turn 1.

Under the checkered flag, Gardner keeps the victory of the session, but he is only third in cumulative times. Bezzecchi remains the boss despite everything. Arbolino is the last potential qualifier in Q2. Raul fernandez is only ninth.
