For this Styrian Grand Prix, Rémy Gardner qualified in pole position for the sixth time in Moto2 and the third time since the start of the season. He thus ties Francesco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli in 10th place on the list of drivers with the most leading positions in the category.

Francis Bagnaia in 2018 is the last driver to win at the Red Bull Ring after qualifying on pole position. Ai Ogura qualified in second position for his best qualifying result as well as the first front row start of his Moto2 rookie season.

Marco Bezzecchi, who won the last Moto2 race held at the Red Bull Ring which was the 2020 Styrian Grand Prix, qualified in third position for his best qualifying result since his second place at the French Grand Prix earlier this year.

Raul fernandez, who qualified on pole position last year at Red Bull in Moto3 (Austrian GP), qualified fourth, the first time he has missed the front row of the grid since Spain this year, where he was fourth.

Aron canet, who qualified on pole for the only time in Moto2 last year in Styria, qualified in fifth position as the best non-Kalex. This is his second best qualifying of the season after Le Mans and Assen, where he was fourth.

Augusto Fernandez qualified in sixth position, which is the fourth time since the start of the year that he has started from the first two rows. He will attempt to reach the podium for the first time in two consecutive races since 2019, when he won at Silverstone and Misano.
