The Malaysian driver was finally able to leave Malaysia to go to the first Grand Prix of the restart, in Spain, with the desire to make up for it after a disappointing Qatar GP.

The relaunch of the 2020 season is now getting closer and the desire to start it for MotoGP and resume it for Moto2 and Moto3 is felt. For some drivers, the idea is to get back on track after a disappointing first race. This is the case ofHafiz Syahrin, who is making his comeback in the intermediate category after two seasons in MotoGP. The only race contested so far is rather forgettable for his side with a 19th place finish, far from the points. The Malaysian driver will be looking for much better results in the World Championship, starting at Jerez.

Last Thursday, he managed to leave for Spain despite travel restrictions due to the pandemic, thanks to the Dorna pass. Syahrin will therefore not miss the first Grand Prix on July 19. Previously, he will participate in the tests organized on the 15th in order to get back into his habits on his motorcycle. As a reminder, Moto2 and Moto3 riders have not raced since March, when MotoGP riders have not yet completed a single GP. A process of getting used to things again, even in an accelerated manner, will therefore be welcome in Andalusia.

“We would like to be consistently among the top five in the race”, said the former Tech3 MotoGP rider. “Or at least be in the points, which I didn't manage to do in the first race. » The disappointment linked to the first GP is felt, but the desire to catch up is also present: “I learned a lot from Qatar and I have to remember what to do to correct my weak points. » The tests will therefore be useful before entering the track for free practice.

“I will do my best, both for myself and for my country”, he added. “I can’t wait to get back on track!” I hope that the tests that will take place before the Grand Prix will help me adapt even more to the new engine. » The Triumph engine was in fact a total discovery for Syahrin who had left Moto2 before its introduction. This engine added to his Speed Up which he had never driven before represents a great challenge, which he is determined to take on.
