The young Dutch rider arrives this year in Moto2, a category which should suit him more given his size. After two years of ups and downs in Moto3, he hopes that this year will be the good one within the Tech 3 Racing team.

Will Bendsneyder arrived straight from the Red Bull Rookies Cup where he stunned the competition in his second year, in 2015, winning eight out of thirteen races and finishing off the podium only three times. He won the title and then advanced to the Moto3 World Championship in 2016.

Within the Red Bull KTM Ajo team for two years, the young Bendsneyder had a good start. Two podiums in his first season, in England and Malaysia, he entered the points eight other times, finishing fourteenth in the general classification, which boded well for the future.

Unfortunately the year 2017 had been very complicated for him, just like for his teammate Niccolò Antonelli. No podium, victory or pole position, the number 64 had only achieved six top 10s as well as a second place in qualifying at Assen.

Bendsneyder then decided to move to Moto2 to 2018, a category which would correspond more to his meter eighty.

He thus joined the Tech 3 Racing team alongside Remy Gardner and said he was very satisfied with this change, as he confided to speedweek : “In Moto2 my size is no longer a problem. It's going much better, unlike Moto3. » However, the Dutchman had to make changes to get his body used to this new category: “During the first pre-season test in 2017, I realized that I needed more muscles to move my new machine correctly. The weight of the bike was already a big difference compared to that of Moto3, I decided to gain two kilos of muscle to ride it perfectly. »

At the end of the first race weekend in Qatar, Bo Bendsneyder proved to be consistent and finished eighteenth in the Grand Prix, second best rookie behind Joan Mir. A position which should improve during the next races: “We understood that we must improve at the start, my weak point at the moment. If we can do that, I think we can fight for good places. »
