The MotoGP left the Montmeló track, but the time for it to cool down had not yet come. The Moto2, and a handful of Moto3 have indeed succeeded the elite to also work in complete serenity. And for Moto2, it was more than necessary, because the tires available as standard are subject to debate. Official times have not been released.

Disappointing rubbers for some and in particular for one Tom Luthi who was quite vocal on the subject which concerns the unique manufacturer Dunlop. The 23 drivers in the category mobilized therefore passed three new specifications, one for the front wheel and two for the rear wheel. Alex Marquez, new leader of the championship and Marcel Schrötter, who is gradually regaining his form, have completed a little more than 90 laps.

With 20 less on the clock, Tom Luthi was visibly reassured: “ it was a very good test – much better than the test we did a month ago before Mugello " said Lüthi. " I didn't crash and we learned a lot, we were able to try some of the things that escaped us on Sunday in the race and we improved a little. We were very productive and we solved a lot of problems ».

The one who probably appreciated the exercise the most is a Jonas Folger freelancer at Petronas and who returns to a category where he won three successes in 2015 and 2016. But it was with a completely different engine. For him, doing laps was both a necessity and a joy after finishing in 19th place in the last Catalan Grand Prix: “ it was important to do a lot of laps because we had problems in the race ", said Folger. " We also tested the new tires from Dunlop, which was interesting, but the most important thing was the laps with the tires that will be used for the next race weekend. I mainly worked on my riding style, settings and suspension, as well as a few small things that could help us ».

During this day, NAVARRO on his Speed Up, at the now famous turn 10, Tetsuta nagashima (SAG-Kalex) at turn 9, George Martin (Ajo-KTM) at turn 1 and Steven Odendaal (RW-NTS) at turn 7 fell. All the chassis entered were therefore entitled to it at least once.

We will recall that the team Tech3 Red Bull KTM was not there and had been left to rest by his boss. Finally, Aron Canet (Max-KTM), leader of the Moto3 championship, also completed test laps. The Spaniard crashed at turn 4 but was not injured.

All these beautiful people will now meet in Assen at the end of the month for the Dutch Grand Prix.
