Official pre-season tests Moto2 ended on the Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit and gave rise to spectacular times, while the Pirelli era opens in style with Fermin Aldeguer at the top of the table.

The checkered flag was waved at the 2 Moto3™ and Moto2024™ Jerez test, and the Pirelli era began with a bang. Before the season opener in Qatar, at the top of the timesheets, it was finally Fermin Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp) in Moto2 which sets the unofficial lap record of the Andalusian track. Whether he has already signed in MotoGP with Pramac (it's probable) or not, the boy clearly displays his pretensions...

Aron canet (Fantic Racing) was the driver to beat on the first two days in Andalusia, but the Spaniard's time of 1'40.704 was beaten on the final day, with most drivers setting personal best laps there. Fermin Aldeguer was therefore the fastest of the lot, but the debates were close, the American Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing) being only 0,044s behind in P2, with Manuel Gonzalez (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™) 0,078s back in third position. Fermin Aldeguer et Joe Roberts fell on the final day, but that didn't hamper their progress much, with the top three all setting their fastest laps in the final session.

In total, seven drivers fell below the official lap record of Aron canet in 1'40.640 for the intermediate category at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto, as the peloton gets acquainted with its new machines and Pirelli tires, a huge change for 2024 in Moto2™ and Moto3™.

Much faster than the two previous days, the 2023 vice-champion, Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team), led the way for part of the final day, but finished P4 at the close of play. P5 on combined timesheets went to Aron canet, just 0,134s: Moto2 promises to be fiercely competitive again, but there is no real surprise there!

Deniz Oncu (Red Bull KTM Ajo) finished the three days of racing as the fastest rookie. The Turk achieved a time of 1'41.161 on Friday to only concede a gap of 0.8s to Fermin Aldeguer.

Last night, all the Moto2 riders were put into their transport crates and today will begin their flight to Qatar, where they will compete "for real" next weekend in the first round of the world championship .

Fermin Aldeguer: “In recent days we have done a lot of laps, tested and experimented to make our Boscoscuro the most competitive. In fact, after several tests and the work of the whole team, we achieved the best lap this afternoon. We now look forward to hitting the track for the first race of the championship.”
