Eight teams from the Moto2 world championship will take part in private tests starting this Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Jerez – Angel Nieto circuit for two days to prepare for the 2021 season.

The MotoGP pre-season ahead of 2021 has already started and after Portimão Monday for some Moto3 teams, the Jerez – Angel Nieto circuit, like every year, becomes the starting point for these first winter tests where new features emerge, such as the debut of new riders, others who change teams, new motorcycles, new sponsors, etc.

This week, the activity started with the Aprilia MotoGP team (both its testing team with Bradley Smith and the official Aprilia Gresini team with Alex Espargaró and Lorenzo Savadori).

On the Andalusian track, some Moto2 teams also rode with Aprilia, including Speed ​​Up with in particular Yari Montella, European Moto2 champion.

We also found the Italtrans team, with the first outing of the newcomer Joe Roberts, a former American Racing Team driver who now rides alongside the rookie Lorenzo Dalla Porta.

Activities continue today with a total of eight Moto2 teams planned for Thursday and Friday, weather conditions permitting after yesterday afternoon's heavy rain.

Among the Moto2 teams which begin preparations for 2021 this morning, we find the Marc VDS team, which will only ride with the Spaniard Augusto Fernandez, since the British Sam Lowes chose to stop in an attempt to recover from his right hand injury.

The Intact team, in their case with German Marcel Schrötter and Italian Tony Arbolino, 3 Moto2020 world vice-champion who is making his debut in the intermediate category.

The NTS team also makes its debut in Moto2, with the Belgian Barry Baltus, coming from Moto3, and the Malaysian Hafiz Syahrin.

The SAG team will be represented by the only Swiss veteran Thomas Lüthi.

The MV Forward Racing team will include the Italian Simone Corsi, who has already raced in the past with the same team, as well as his compatriot Lorenzo Baldassarri from the Pons Racing team.

Stefano manzi took the opposite path and joined the Pons team after the 2020 season spent in the MV Agusta Temporary Forward team.

At VR46, the Italian Marco Bezzecchi will continue one more season with the team with which he finished fourth in this last world championship, winning 2 victories and 7 podiums, accompanied by the rookie Celestino Vietti who moves to the higher category within the same structure with which he achieved two victories and four podiums to finish fifth overall.

 

Finally, the American Racing team lines up Marcos Ramirez from Cadiz and the American Cameron Beaubier, 27, who returns to the World Championship after being a five-time MotoAmerica champion in the Superbike category. Beaubier had a season in the 125cc world championship in 2009 after coming from the Rookies Cup, and although it was not successful and he left the competition to return, this time in the category Moto2, he now has a vast sporting background with titles to his credit acquired in his native America.
