Tony Arbolino produced a sensational comeback in the wet to claim his second Moto2 victory.

Five minutes before the start of the race, a heavy downpour arrived at the circuit, delaying the start by just over 10 minutes, and reducing the race distance from 24 to 16 laps.

The reduced race was then stopped after eight laps due to deteriorating conditions. The race management planned a new start which was to take place over five laps. But as the drivers exited the pit lane, another downpour brought out the red flags. A result was therefore announced after eight laps of the initial race, with half of the points awarded to drivers who finished in the top 15.

Tony Arbolino took his time to understand the conditions and grip levels at the start of the race, and moved from second to ninth place on the first lap.
But the 22-year-old quickly made a brilliant comeback. By the sixth lap, he moved up to third place. His mastery in wet conditions showed on lap eight, where he overtook Filip Salac to take the lead at turn three, just before the red flags were shown.

Thanks to his second victory in Moto2, the 12,5 points obtained for his victory by the Italian allow him to remain fifth in the world championship standings with 150,5 points, 14,5 points behind Celestine Vietti, fourth.

Tony Arbolino: “ An incredible result! It was a real victory. If the race hadn't been stopped, I still think I would have won. I was really focused and calm and felt like the victory was mine. I was 100% sure that we had done a good job throughout the weekend to achieve this result. We are happy with the points we scored. But the victory is for us, for the team. It's my first victory in the wet and I'm very happy about it. Let's continue this momentum because we are showing a very good level. We have to enjoy it and continue to have fun. »
