The future of Pedro Acosta in MotoGP would therefore be sealed for 2024 in the ranks of KTM which should, in fact, soon announce either an Augusto Fernandez as collateral damage or a Pol Espargaró reoriented towards a mission of test rider and emeritus replacement. The Spaniard, pampered by the Austrian brand and already put on a pedestal by the promoter Dorna as well as treated with kindness by the FIM commissioners, is however currently only second in his Moto2 championship, behind Tony Arbolino who also aims to join the elite. The Italian's route to get there will undoubtedly be steeper and more tortuous. But if he doesn't have the Pierer Mobility group behind him, at least he has the support of his manager Carlo Pernat...

Tony Arbolino took the lead in his Moto2 championship at half-time in a season that many observers have already taken for granted Peter Acosta. The latter, however, is still the heir apparent to the Italian who intends not to surrender without resistance: “ my state of mind is to be 100% for the 2023 season », commented the Marc VDS driver on speedweek.

He adds : " of course, I could be lying to you if I said that I'm only thinking about 2023. But the truth is that I'm really totally focused on this year. The feeling with my team isTony Arbolinodone, I want to continue with her and show what I can do. The goal this year is just the title and I will do my best to achieve it ».

Tony Arbolino: “ of course I love MotoGP, who doesn't? »

However, if the double winner at this stage of the season does not look beyond the bubble of his current Triumph-powered Kalex, he has a manager who takes care of the future and who is a Charles Pernat who recently showed what he could do with Enea Bastianini which he also takes care of. A relationship of which Arbolino welcomes : " there are other managers who call you every day to tell you some news. He doesn't tell me all the tracks, he only tells me the most important things. And he's good at it because he knows exactly when to talk to me. Otherwise he doesn't ».

However, the manager has his roadmap: “ he knows what I want. If we can get it, that's good, if not we'll look further. He knows what I deserve, and so do I. That's all ". And the plot of 22 years ends: “ of course I love MotoGP, who doesn't? I know I deserve MotoGP. If there is an opportunity, we will seize it. That's all ».
