The Malaysian rider had a positive first outing on the Moto2 track aboard his Speed Up, during the test which took place over two days in Valencia.

After two seasons in MotoGP, Hafiz Syahrin bowed out at the end of the Valencia Grand Prix to return to Moto2, a category he left at the end of 2016 and which he finds again this time within the Ángel Nieto team.

In addition to having to get used to the intermediate category again, the Malaysian must also get his bearings on the Speed Up which he does not know (he rode on Kalex between 2013 and 2016, editor's note), since the team made the choice to ride with this chassis this year, after riding on KTM in 2019.

After tests greatly disrupted by the weather in Jerez last week, this time Syahrin was able to take full advantage of the track in Valencia and completed 120 laps which allowed him to better understand his new machine. “I finished this first Moto2 test with good feelings”, he commented. “We only rode a day and a half, but it was a positive day and a half. It went pretty well the first day, and on the second I focused on my riding style and progressing little by little. »

“We lose a little speed in the middle of the corner, but that's due to the difference between Moto2 and MotoGP. I'm starting to get used to this bike and I'm happy because we're not far from the fastest riders. I can't wait to start working on the new bike again in February and work as much as possible with the team. »
