Moto2 Valencia P3

The P3 Moto2 in Valencia was interesting to follow. It pitted the usual suspects against each other, those we are used to seeing at the front, for, perhaps, a direct place in Q2. We first had to count on Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo), the world champion, and ahead during the first two sessions on Friday. But also and above all, on the man of the moment, Fermin Aldeguer (Speed Up Racing), in the midst of a historic series of three consecutive victories. The latter is simply monstrous, and now confirmed in Moto2 next year, there is no doubt that he will be keen to go for a fourth to prepare as well as possible. Watch out, of course, for Aron Canet (Pons WeGow Los40), still without a victory in Moto2 despite 19 podiums (!) For Pons Racing's last outing in Moto2, he can transcend himself. Manuel Gonzalez (Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp), Marcos Ramirez (American Racing) and Tony Arbolino (Elf MarcVDS Racing Team) were all serious opponents.

So, even if you already know the result of this P3, come and relive it with us! Before we begin, here is a table which summarizes the known facts:

The weather is still nice but cool near Valencia, but it is possible that the riders will go faster than yesterday all the same, as was the case in Moto3 a little earlier. Immediately, the Belgian Barry Baltus (Fieten Olie Racing GP) which sits at the head, in front Alonso Lopez (Speed Up Racing). The latter has been more discreet since mid-season, but he remains an immense talent.

But soon after, here it is again Fermin Aldeguer, the revelation of this end of the season. Jake dixon (GasGas Aspar Team), who can secure third place in the championship this weekend, will not take long to get into the fray. And of course, Pedro Acosta Is not far.

The times are only getting lower, and there you have it Fermin Aldeguer who breaks the clock again! In 1'33.2, he beat the old record by more than a full second, also helped by the new asphalt. He sticks to his closest pursuer for half a second, it's just astonishing. Aron canet isn't far away, though. As usual, turn 13 offers superb slow motion footage, here with Tony Arbolino:

Moreover, the Italian is still not officially in Q2. He needs to improve. His teammate Sam Lowes is even better for his last appearance in Moto2. He's getting closer of Aldeguer, but can't beat him. Come on, another slide, this time marked by the revelation of the year.

Tony Arbolino still can't qualify for Q2! The Italian is in great difficulty, and more generally, we have seen him struggle as rarely in the second part of the season. Marcos Ramirez, on the podium for the first time at Sepang, is second.

In the last lap, no one seems able to approach Aldeguer. He therefore ranks first, ahead of Marcos Ramirez et Sam Lowes. Tony Arbolino is only 23rd, and will therefore have to go through Q1.
