The Marc VDS Racing team introduces itself.

The colors of Marc VDS Racing came very close to consecration in 2020. Unfortunately, their champion Sam Lowes, truly transformed, was injured at a bad time and despite his bravery in wanting to hold his rank, he was unable to defend completely his chances in the final Grand Prix, decisive for the award of the title. The team is doing it again in 2021 with the same two drivers and a new decoration which highlights a historic name in motor sports: Elf…

The team Elf Marc VDS Racing will begin its 12th season in the World Championship Moto2 with confidence and enthusiasm. A boost also caused by the installation of a new title partner who is not unknown to all enthusiasts, since it is about Elf.

Marc Van Der Straten, team owner commented: “ I can't wait to start our twelfth season in the Moto2 world championship. Although it is a year marked again by the pandemic, we hope that it will be less disrupted than in 2020 and that we will be able to enjoy our great passion as always. I am very proud to see Sam Lowes and Augusto Fernandez representing our colors for the second consecutive season and to have Elf as an important partner. I am convinced that our two drivers and the whole team will work hard and give everything on the track to give us great moments and obtain good results. As always, I would like to thank our partners for their valuable support, because without them, our adventure would not be the same ».

Sam Lowes, won three victories, and had four podiums, adds at the age of 30: “ I'm very happy with the pre-season I had. I have prepared well and I am really looking forward to starting the season. Last year I had a great season. It was perhaps the best of my career and this year I hope to take everything we have learned, fine-tune some details and compete again with the fastest riders. Working session by session, keeping calm and not pushing too much when it is not necessary are some of the lessons I learned in 2020. I am sure that in 2021 they will be of great help to me . The World Championship will be tight because there are many riders who have a high level, but I will give everything to fight to win the Moto2 World Championship”. The Englishman will be assisted by the experienced chief engineer Gilles Bigot.

For its part, Augusto Fernandez, 23 years old, will have to return to his 2019 level which was not seen in 2020: “ my main goal this year is to have fun on the bike again. I am convinced that this is the best way to get results and be able to fight at the front of the race again on a regular basis. I prepared well during the winter and I am very happy with the work we are doing with the team and my new chief engineer to achieve this goal. I have a good feeling and even though it was difficult, I learned a lot of things last year that I will try to improve in 2021. The first tests went well, so I'm really looking forward to it. to be in Qatar and see what it will be like when we start racing again. I think it will be a good year and I will really enjoy it ».

Moto2 and Moto3 will do their pre-season testing in Qatar on March 19.
