Until now, Alain Bronec's CIP team in Moto3 has often specialized in detecting young talents.

The formula has its advantages but also its disadvantages because the drivers must then not only acquire the basics of working in Grand Prix but also learn most of the circuits of the Moto3 world championship.

As such, 2018 will mark a step forward for the CIP since the experienced John mcphee will join the French structure alongside the Kazakh Makar Yurchenko.

John McPhee has five and a half seasons in Moto3 behind him, during which he took a victory in 2016, a season unfortunately spoiled by a serious accident in Australia. In 2017, he finished 7th in the world championship after scoring 131 points.

The Scottish rider will therefore be far from disoriented in 2018, having only to concentrate on fine-tuning his KTM. The Austrian firm will indeed equip the French structure based in Ales next season, which, given past years, seems rather a good thing.

All the lights are green for the CIP Moto3 team including the team manager, Alain Bronec, however, remains realistic, given his statements on the official website MotoGP.com : “When we look at the 2017 Championship, John McPhee is the highest ranked rider who will have a KTM next year. We put all the chances on our side to offer a top rider to KTM. We are nevertheless aware that there will be work, as he will probably have to adapt his riding style to suit the KTM, particularly during the braking and acceleration phases. As for Makar, we have been following him for two years already. He knows the KTM, but he doesn't know the world of Grands Prix. He will therefore not be surprised by the bike, but he will have to assimilate a whole bunch of new concepts, unlike John. We hope that they can work together to achieve interesting results throughout a hopeful new season. »
