When reading the engaged for the 2019 Moto3 season, we noted the absence of a team Max Biaggi yet a candidate. But apparently not retained. An end of refusal which did not raise criticism from the Roman emperor. Had he already made up his mind? Nope. Because it seems that a plan B has been ready for a while…
The Moto3 entry list has therefore been published and among it, we see a Südmetall Schedl Racing team with only one rider announced. This is the structure of Peter Öttl, five times GP winner, father of one Philip who won a race this season at Jerez and who will be a Tech3 KTM Moto2 rider next season. He is also a boss who fought for six weeks for the survival of his racing team.
Peter Öttl considered how his Moto3 team could continue. In recent weeks, countless negotiations have taken place with existing sponsors, KTM and the riders. All meetings took place in the greatest secrecy. But Speedweek discovered that Peter Öttl was ready for a surprising agreement. He would be on the verge of implementing a nice “coup”. He will join his Südmetall Schedl Racing team with the six-time world champion's Max Racing Team Max Biaggi.
Öttl did not want to block the team because it represents a certain value and because he wants to continue working for his team of engineers, Stefan Kirsch in the lead. Better still, the sole pilot of this new ensemble would be none other thanAron Canet who would therefore leave Honda and Estrella Galicia.
