If MotoGP promises us a season more open than ever and Moto2 a leap into the unknown due to a redistribution of technical cards, it is downright ink bottle in Moto3. Long-toothed newcomers will mix with more experienced ones who will play their last card. A heterogeneous group of 29 drivers divided into 16 teams, 15 of which will be on KTM and 14 on Honda…

The Moto3 start list for the 2019 season also includes nine different countries. Most Moto3 riders come from Italy or Spain. These countries are each represented by eight pilots. In addition, five Japanese, two Czechs, two British and one South African, Turks, Argentines and one Makar Yurchenko of Kazakhstan provide an international coloring.

For the first time in 2019, qualifications 1 and 2 in the Moto3 World Championship will decide the starting grid. This should prevent annoying walks on the trajectory. In recent years, there have been 15 penalties on the grid per qualifying sanctioning these errors. The starting grid for the race then had little to do with the true qualifying result.

Once again, Moto3 has attracted a host of talented young riders. Here are the main changes on the Moto3 entry list compared to 2018. The starters are Jorge Martin (Moto2), Fabio Di Giannantionio (Moto2), Marco Bezzecchi (Moto2), Philipp Öttl (Moto2), Enea Bastianini (Moto2), Nicholas Bulega (Moto2), Adam Norrodin (CEV Moto2), Nakarin Atiratphuvapat.

The eight new starters are: Sergio Garcia, Filip Salac, Celestino Vietti, Riccardo Rossi, Can Öncü, Tom Booth-Amos, Ai Ogura and Raul Fernández.

Eight of the riders on the Moto3 entry list have won a Grand Prix: Roman Fenati (10), Niccolo Antonelli (3), Aron Canet (3), Albert Arenas (2), Andrea Migno (1), John McPhee (1), Lorenzo Dalla Porta (1) and Can Öncü (1).

The youngest on the grid will be Can Öncü, who will be 15 years and 227 days old during the first race of the year. Eight riders on the list will be aged 22 or over on race day at the Qatar GP: Jakub Kornfeil (25 years, 336 days), John McPhee (24 years, 239 days), Andrea Migno (23 years, 59 days), Romano Fenati (23 years, 54 days), Niccolò Antonelli (23 years, 15 days), Tom Booth -Amos (22 years and 363 days), Gabriel Rodrigo (22 years and 149 days) and Albert Arenas (22 years and 89 days). There are no French people involved.
