Born in Turin in 2004, Alberto Surra comes from the thriving Italian breeding ground that the transalpine federation has supported for years through the important Talenti Azzurri project and which led him this season to compete with the Bardahl VR46 Riders Academy Team in the championship Italian.

A rather positive start in the fold of the VR46 for a Alberto Surra who also had the opportunity to race on the world stage, first as a wildcard during the Italian GP at Mugello (retirement), then at Assen, Silverstone, Aragón and Misano as a Snipers Team driver where he will finish the 2021 season.

Good performances and proof of competitive talent led the VR46 Riders Academy to welcome the Turinese full-fledged into its group of Valentino Rossi, with the aim of continuing with him the work already started this season.

Alessio salucci, Sports Director VR46 Riders Academy:
« Over the last few months, Alberto has proven himself to be an excellent driver, achieving good results and above all showing that he is capable of improving race after race, and that is important. We are very happy to officially welcome him to the Riders Academy, and we are sure that together we can achieve great things. A special mention goes to the Italian Federation (FMI) for the excellent work it does to support young Italian talents. »

John Copioli, President IMF:
« We are proud to see Alberto join the VR46 Riders Academy. Surra is one of the riders who best represents the synergy achieved for years with VR46 for the growth of young talents. The Pata Talenti Azzurri FMI is the heart of the project, whose aim is to train drivers and prepare them for realities, such as the Academy, which will accompany them in the World Championship. It happened like this with Surra, who is part of the Talenti Azzurri, engaged in the ELF CIV with the VR46, then in the World Championship and now in the VR46 Riders Academy, which has the great merit of supporting many Italian talents. It's a pleasure to work with the VR46 and to be part of the system that supports the best young Italians in the World Championship »

Alberto Surra:
« I am really happy to be part of the VR46 Riders Academy project. Over the past few months, I have had the chance to progress a lot as a runner and as a person, and I owe this mainly to the important opportunities offered by the Academy. For this reason, I would like to thank all the people who are part of this beautiful family and in particular Uccio (Alessio Salucci) and Barbara (Barbara Mazzoni, Account Manager VR46 Riders Academy, editor's note) for the constant support and trust shown to my regard. »
