According to michaelhillpromotions.com, also author of the opening photo, KTM, which bought the Spanish off-road brand Gas Gas last year, could give it an aura of speed by lining up Moto3s decorated in its colors, like this which she already does with Husqvarna.

The approach is not new, since the Piaggio group has already done it in the past with Aprilia, Derbi and Gilera in 125cc.

The Gas Gas brand was born in 1985 as the Spanish importer of the Italian SWM and its name derives from “to gas”, therefore “to accelerate”. Over time, it entered the ranks of the main producers of enduro, cross as well as trial, where it achieved numerous successes and secured an interesting position.

In financial difficulty since 2015, it immediately aroused the interest of KTM which nevertheless suffered refusal from management and employees (see video below).


The Catalan firm then ended up in the hands of the Black Toro Capital group before the latter finally sold 60% of the capital last year to Matighoffen's men.

As with Husqvarna acquired in 2016, the Austrian company is committed to relaunching the Gas Gas brand, also maintaining the production plants in Salt near Girona.

An arrival in Moto3 cannot therefore be ruled out, even if this would more than likely be limited to the decoration of the RC 250 R produced in Austria…
