Moto3 is launching, as is tradition, an afternoon of qualifying on the Aragón track which is hosting the eponymous Grand Prix this weekend. The first information is that the weather is nice and the track is dry. Then, on this track, Honda has qualified in pole position for the last five years with Álex Rins (2014), Enea Bastianini (2015 and 2016) and Jorge Martin (2017 and 2018). Only Jorge Martin and Álex Rins subsequently won the Grand Prix by starting from the front position.

Who will have the honor of commanding the starting grid for this fourteenth meeting of the season? Before answering this question, here is the table which summarizes the facts…

25° in the air and 34° on the track are the conditions proposed for an exercise which will take place in two stages: a 1-minute Q15 from which the four best will emerge who will then go to a Q2 for a new quarter of hour of jousting with the fastest drivers since Friday, with a view to the best places on the starting grid.

In these repechages, there are already a lot of people since we find Foggia, Vietti, Fernandez, Ramirez and especially Arón Canet, second in the championship.

In 1'58.898, it's the driver Max Biaggi who signs the first reference on his KTM. Foggia, Yurchenko and the young prodigy Tatay follow, but more than a second away. Canet hit hard from the start.

The pilots return to the box and take up arms for a second and final assault. The latter will deliver Foggia as a leader in front Canet, Tatay et Drive. Ramirez is only sixth. The Leopard driver, Grand Prix winner, is the unpleasant surprise of this selection. As for Tatay, fresh winner of the Red Bull Rookies Cup, he joins the best to try for pole position.

Here we are now in Q2, the final of these qualifications. The track opens to the competitors, but they decide to play for time. Obviously, everything will still be decided in the final minutes, with all the hazards of this type of strategy, including that of starting too late in the game...

There are nine minutes left and the platoon finally decides to go into battle. Canet except. He makes his decision seven minutes from time. For what result? Canet first did a 1'58.197 which gave him a second ahead of Arbolino, McPhee et Foggia. Dallas Port is an anonymous sixteenth.

Under the checkered flag, nothing will change except for Ogura second of a first line closed by hope Tatay. The second row is made up of Kornfeil, Vietti et López. Arbolino is seventh ahead Suzuki et McPhee. The big loser is Dallas Port, 12rd.
