In Argentina, much was expected of Ángel Piqueras, one of the many Spanish stars who truly crushed the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2023 before joining the Moto3 World Championship last year.
For his World Championship debut, the rookie reached the podium four times, including a legendary victory despite two long lapses at Misano!
In 2025, he defended the colors of the Frinsa – MT Helmets – MSI team but the first event in Thailand left a bad taste in his mouth...
5th in Practice, the native of Ayora, near Valencia, had qualified only 15th, hoping to move up in the race, in a category where anything is possible. And indeed, 3rd on the 14th of 19 laps, anything seemed possible, until he was hit by Joel Kelso. Time to get back on his red and blue KTM, and it was in an unfair 12th position that the Spaniard crossed the finish line.
"I'm really looking forward to Argentina because it's a circuit that not many people have been to and it will probably be very close. I'm looking forward to doing well and getting rid of the bad taste of the race in Thailand."
In Argentina, things looked better from the start, with number 36 finishing Practice 7th before qualifying 2nd, behind Matthew Bertelli and in front of his own teammate Ryusei Yamanaka.
"I'm very happy with how the day went today. I felt very comfortable with the new tires and the used tires. We'll see how it goes tomorrow and how the race goes."
The race, as usual in this category, was spectacular, intense and fierce., and the arrival of the first 5 in less than 4 tenths bears witness to this.
At its end, Angel Piqueras tell :“I feel very good, I feel amazing, I feel even better because it was like a team result, the whole team result. So yeah, I’m very happy to have done it. This race was very difficult because everyone was trying to be on top. Yes, I had a strategy, but when I saw the first part of the race, about 3 laps from the start, I couldn’t put it together because it was really, really difficult to be in the lead. But anyway, when the tire dropped a little bit, I felt good, and everyone was losing a little bit of pace, while I was able to keep my pace. So yeah, I’m very happy.”
In America, yes, it's a circuit that I love. I achieved my first podium there, so yes, let's see how it goes there."
We are looking forward to…
