Fresh off another podium finish in the Czech Republic, Maximo Quiles arrives in Assen with a 67-point lead over his closest rival in the Moto3 World Championship, Alvaro Carpe. However, he must be wary of new competitors, as Hakim Danish and Birna Uriarte have been stringing together excellent results. The Malaysian rider secured his first World Championship victory last week in Brno, while the number 51 rider earned his second podium finish in three weekends, coming in just behind.
Once again this season, Maximo Quiles left no chance for his rivals. Starting from pole position in the Moto3 Dutch Grand Prix, he maintained his lead into the first corner and capitalized on the battles behind him to pull away at the halfway point. Briefly challenged by Hakim Danish and David Almansa, he finished the race with the latter right behind him.
However, on the final lap, Almansa could no longer maintain his pace and was forced to let the championship leader slip away to his sixth victory in ten rounds this season. This win was even more significant for the Spaniard, given that his main rival in the overall standings, Alvaro Carpe, crashed and retired from the race.
Marco Morelli completed the podium, emerging first from a group that truly closed in on Hakim Danish in the final laps. The Czech GP winner, meanwhile, finished only 10th.
