Moto3 Australia FP2: Canet loses his pin in front of Dalla Porta

Hostile weather and a lively Tony Arbolino were the major elements of this start to the Australian Moto3 Grand Prix which could reveal, after Sunday's race, a new World Champion if Dalla Porta manages his business well. However, the competition will not passively watch a mathematically possible coronation scene. The Leopard driver still got off to a good start by avoiding the pitfalls of Phillip Island and finishing second to a compatriot Arbolino while for his return from injuries, Fenati is in the leading trio.

Canet, the challenger was eleventh, what will be the outcome of this 17th round of the Grand Prix calendar? Before answering this question, here is the table of available references:

17° in the air and 20° on a dry track swept by the winds which have the merit of chasing away the clouds are the conditions proposed to the pilots for the 40 minutes of exercise.

In 1'39.145, Canet signs the first reference in front Dallas Port et Migno. The KTM rider of Max Biaggi accelerates in 1'38.340 and Arbolino takes the same pace. The two men are the only ones below the 1'39 mark thatArenas inaugurated.

Migno moves into second, four tenths behind the championship leader. Raul Fernandez fall in turn 4 while Canet, without help, takes the lead in 1'36.809. Arenas climbs third Ogura fall at turn 8. We are in the last minute. Red fall at turn 4.

Under the checkered flag, Canet, Dalla Porta, Arenas, Antonelli et Suzuki form the top 5. Ramirez 14th, automatically saves his place in Q2. A performance missed by Arbolino, 17th, who will experience Q1 since rain is forecast for Saturday…
