Hervé Poncharal

Hervé Poncharal once again experienced great emotions at a Red Bull Ring which last year brought him the first success in MotoGP for his Tech3 troops. This time, the realization was glimpsed in Moto3 and missed by only 27 thousandths. The Frenchman returns to this episode in the Styrian plain by praising his young Turkish rider Öncü while having a moving thought for his other resident Sasaki, taken out by a competitor that is announced in MotoGP, which promises…

Hervé Poncharal took stock of the Austrian Grand Prix Moto3 version for Tech3 with the satisfaction of having made up for the wasted Styrian Grand Prix on the starting grid...The tricolor also warns about a rider who is expected on a Yamaha Petronas in MotoGP : " it was such an important race for us in Spielberg, Austria. After last week's disaster in Styria, for Deniz, I think the whole weekend was a big revenge. I have to say that I was pretty sure that if nothing bad happened during the race, Deniz would be fighting for the podium. He had an amazing weekend overall. The Warm Up was amazing, the way he prepared for the race, he went off on his own and had the best time every lap. He is really, really strong mentally and we are all very, very happy with this second podium for Deniz! ».

He adds : " but I have to say that when you followed Deniz in the lead for most of this race, finishing 27 thousandths behind the winner is a bit of a bitter feeling. But we know how close Moto3 is and we have to be happy and we are. Deniz is growing incredibly. I'm glad Kenan Sofuoglu and Toprak Razgatloglu supported him here and witnessed Deniz's progress. We are very proud of him. He works incredibly well and is maturing a lot. Doing this kind of race in front of the leaders of Red Bull and KTM is a great pleasure and a fantastic reward for their investment in us ».

Hervé Poncharal: “there are some drivers who are not very clean and respectful on the track"

« On the other hand, I am very disappointed for Ayumu Sasaki, because he clearly had the pace to fight for a top 5 position. But I think there are some drivers who are not very clean and respectful on the track and do what was done to Ayumu so early in the race is not what we want to see in the race » regrets Hervé Poncharal. " I really feel sorry for Ayumu, because he made a strong comeback after his nasty injury, he was strong all weekend and clearly he needed to get some good points to fight for his position in the championship ».

He finishes : " anyway, congratulations to the entire Red Bull KTM Tech3 Moto3 team, on both sides! Everyone works hard and really well. I am very proud of you all! Let's take a little rest to digest this great result and get back to the same level for Silverstone ". And it will be at the end of this month of August.
