Dennis Foggia achieved the best performance in the third and final free practice session of the Catalan Grand Prix, Moto3 category, ninth round of the 2022 World Championship scheduled for the Montmelò circuit in Barcelona. The Honda Leopard Team driver, who completed his best lap in 1'47.765, is ahead of world ranking leader Sergio Garcia (GasGas Aspar) by 0.247s.

Third and fourth place for David Salvador which replaces Ayumu Sasaki injured on the Max Racing Team Husqvarna and Daniel Holgado (KTM Red Bull Ajo). James Masia (KTM Red Bull Ajo) is fifth, ahead of our Andrea Migno (Honda Snipers), Lorenzo Fellon (Honda SIC58 Squadra Corse), Tatsuki suzuki (Honda Leopard) and Izan Guevara (GasGas Aspar). Joel Kelso (KTM CIP) closes the Top Ten.

Also going directly to Q2: Matteo Bertelle (KTM Avintia), John McPhee (Husqvarna Max Racing Team), Deniz Oncu (KTM Tech 3) and Carlos Tatay (CFMoto PruestelGP).

29° in the air and 48° on the track are the conditions offered to drivers for these qualifications which will take place in two stages. A Q1 from which the four best drivers will emerge who will join the protagonists of Q2 at the end of which we will know who will have achieved pole position.

The first reference of Q1 is the prerogative of Mario Aji in 1'49.873. Furusato, Bartolini et Azman complete the magic square heading for Q2. But Riccardo rossi sets a 1'49.519 which says a lot about his ambitions. Artigas also joins the leading pack with its CFMoto.

Scott Ogden plays his card and takes control in 1'49.389. We're entering the last five minutes. Whatley falls and secures last place since without a timer.

Under the checkered flag of this first half, they are Ogden, Toba, Riccardo Rossand et Yamanaka who continue the adventure. The big loser of the exercise is Artigas who will start 21st.

Q2 continues and it is the grand finale of this session. Ogden, leader of Q1 must hurry to be part of the party…

While the mechanics work, hostilities begin.

The first reference goes to Foggia in 1'48.292 ahead Rossi, McPhee, Suzuki et Lorenzo Fellon, which is therefore in the top 5. In the second run, Guevara positions himself second Foggia, and fellon is in the right tempo, sixth.

We enter the last five minutes and the pilots return to their boxes to be supplied with the last pneumatic ammunition available.

The last assault gives its verdict by consecrating under the checkered flag Foggia wins the leading position in 1'48.290 in front Oncu, Guevara et fellon who will command the second line. farmhouse fall like Tatay. The first city will start only 14th. The championship leader Garcia will start 7th.
